zochess vision privacy policy
last updated Sep 30, 2026
This page explains what the zochess vision app collects. It uses your zochess account, so our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service also apply; this page adds what is specific to vision. The app is operated by Maksym Dolhov.
01 On your phone
The app uses your camera, or a photo you pick from your library, only to scan a board. The detection model runs on your device, so recognising the pieces does not need a connection.
02 What is uploaded
By default, each scan is uploaded to your account. That includes:
- the photo of the board;
- the pieces the model detected, the position it produced, and any corrections you made;
- when the scan was taken, a checksum of the original photo, and the app, model and platform versions.
03 Why we keep scans
Uploaded scans are stored with your account so your scan history is kept and available wherever you sign in. We do not use your scans to train or improve our models unless you choose to. That choice is not available yet, and if we add it, it will be a separate opt-in.
04 Who can see them
Scan photos are private. They are stored on our servers and can only be opened by you, signed in to your account. We do not sell them or share them with advertisers.
05 Deleting your scans
- You can delete any scan from your history in the app; that removes it, and its photo, from our servers.
- Deleting your zochess account erases all of your scans and photos.
- To ask for a copy of your data, or anything else about privacy, email contact@zochess.com.
06 Account data
Your account, sign-in details, technical data and analytics are handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
07 Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date above.
